The WHGBL believes that athletics offer many positive benefits for students and does not wish to place any undue burdens on parents/guardians who cannot afford to pay the registration fee for their children.

To ensure that we help those who are in need, we have implemented the following processes.

Automatic Qualification

Students who have been approved for free or reduced-price meals through the West Hartford Public School system are immediately eligible for consideration to receive a full or partial waiver of our registration fees upon request. We simply ask that the parent/guardian provide the league with a copy of their free/reduced price lunch confirmation letter from West Hartford Public Schools. You should email the confirmation letter to president@whgbl.org.

All Others, Follow The Email Request Process

Students who are not eligible for free or reduced-price meals from the West Hartford Public School system may still apply for a waiver of athletic fees from the West Hartford Girls Basketball League. As part of the due diligence process to waive these fees, parents/guardians who have extenuating circumstances, cannot afford the fee, and would like to request a waiver should send an email to the President of the West Hartford Girls Basketball League at president@whgbl.org and should indicate one of the following reasons and provide a brief explanation for the board to consider:

· Unforeseen/excessive family medical expenses

· More than one student athlete participating in the West Hartford Girls Basketball League

· Recent loss of home and/or employment

· Death of one of the student's parents in the past calendar year

· Or they may provide another compelling reason not listed

All information provided is kept strictly confidential and is only shared with members of the West Hartford Girls Basketball Board of Directors for consideration of the athletic fee waiver.

Please also include if there is any amount of the registration fee that you would be able to pay.

Fee waivers will be provided based on eligibility and the ability for the WHGBL to cover the player’s registration fee.
