CAMP/CLINIC SCHOLARSHIP

Camp/Clinic Scholarship

The program provides a current WHGBL player with the opportunity to have a registration fee either partial or in full (up to $500) for any upcoming basketball clinic or camp they choose. The scholarship is available to any current6player in the league in any division. The basketball clinic or camp must be held between March 9, 2025 and December 31, 2026. To be considered for the scholarship, the player is required to submit the following:

  • An application for the scholarship (click on the button below to download the application)
  • An essay of 500 words or less describing why the player wishes to participate in the camp/clinic, how they feel it will benefit them and what skill they feel the program will enhance.
  • Any marketing materials or information about the basketball program that the player thinks would be helpful for the Scholarship Committee to be aware of as they consider the player’s application.

Player parents may help their daughters (especially those with young players in the Minors Division) write the brief essay.

The completed documents must be emailed to the league President no later than 11:59pm on February 27, 2026. The scholarship winner will be notified by the league before the Seniors Division Championship Game (currently scheduled for Sunday, March 8, 2026). It is expected that the scholarship winner will be available and will attend the Championship Game to publicly be recognized for their award. The award will be paid directly to the clinic or camp when an invoice from the clinic or camp is received by the WHGBL.

PREVIOUS CAMP/CLINIC AWARD WINNERS

The WHGBL began the Camp/Clinic Scholarship award by vote of the league's Board of Directors in 2022.

Previous award winners were Harmony Smith (2023); Grace Darfour-Guarino (2025).

Grace earns a 2025 scholarship for Cersosimo's basketball camp this summer!

April 22, 2025

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the WHGBL Board of Directors, based on a recommendation from the league’s Scholarship Committee, awarded a Basketball Camp/Clinic Scholarship to Grace Dufour-Guarino. In Grace’s application and essay to the league, she mentioned how she plans to attend the Cersosimo Basketball Camp through the Town of West Hartford Leisure Services program. Her reason for attending the camp is that she learned that 70% - 90% of students lose some of their basketball skills over the summer. Attending summer camp will help her maintain and improve her skills. Grace plans to work on her dribbling skills at the camp and her goal is to make the Conard High Girls Basketball team when she reaches high school. This is her fifth year attending the Cersosimo Basketball Camp and she loves the camp because she feels it helps her be a better teammate with her WHGBL team. The league wishes Grace the best of luck as she continues to improve her leadership skills through understanding the fundamentals of basketball.
