League Committees

The West Hartford Basketball League has developed certain committees to help manage league operations more effectively . These committees are the ByLaw Committee, the Rules Committee, the Disciplinary Committee, the Scholarship Committee, the Coaches Confirmation Committee, the Special Events Committee and the Hiring Committee. The following provides a description of the responsibility of each committee and identifies the board members who make up the committee:

PLEASE NOTE: The league President is an ex-officio officer of all committees of the West Hartford Girls Basketball League.

The ByLaw Committee

The Bylaw Committee is responsible for recommending to the WHGBL board any changes to the league’s bylaws based on the needs of the league.

The Rules Committee

The Rules Committee is responsible for monitoring league rules and recommending additional rules, modification of rules or elimination of rules based on league needs to the board of directors.

Rule Committee Members: Doug Packard, Joe DeLutrie, Craig Tanner

The Disciplinary Committee

The Disciplinary Committee is responsible for investigating complaints filed by coaches, players, league officials, player parents or the general public. The Committee is responsible for informing the board of the results of its investigations and may include suggesting disciplinary actions of individuals who violate league rules or Coaches Code of Ethics or Spectator Conduct Codes during any league event.

The Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for developing, promoting and communicating the league’s scholarship opportunities. The Committee is also responsible for soliciting, collecting and evaluating scholarship applications including making recommendations for awards to the board.

The Coaches Confirmation Committee

This committee is responsible for reviewing all league coaches and making recommendations to the board to approve Head Coaches or to remove any coaches in the league.

The Special Events Committee

The Special Events Committee is responsible for developing and managing all types of events as part of league operations. This includes but is not limited to; developing and facilitating the annual league appreciation dinner; creating, maintaining and selling league promotional materials for board members and the general public; managing league “Photo Day”; and participation in external league tournaments and outside town exhibition games.

The Hiring Committee

The Hiring Committee is responsible for evaluating, interviewing and recommending candidates for any paid employment positions for the league.
